172-174 Washington DC
So I sit here writing this post realizing that I have had 4 days in Washington DC and have accomplished very little on the project front, or any front for that matter. I did post a PixelPack of old ships today to Creative Market so that was something 🙂
I have found myself over the last few days stuck in a bit of a fog. I’m not sure why but if I learned one thing about myself over these 41 years is that I can’t will myself to do anything and life is better if I just let it happen. So even though these last few day haven’t been as productive as I’d like they have nonetheless been amazing. A chance to see a new city and check out the nations capitol has been fantastic!
The whitehouse seems smaller than on TV or in pictures. I as not prepared for it to be so close to the fence, it seems in pictures to be so far away. The Library of Congress has great to tour and I recommend it. You can get your Library of Congress library card too, although good luck finding anything books or places to find them. The catalog system is archaic at best, although it was nice to request a book and have it show up in 30 minutes from the bowels of the library to my desk like Domino’s, it proved ineffective in my research and the stadff although very helpful had nothing to offer in the way of help.
I found myself revisiting the Lincoln Monument often throughout my stay here, and it is easily my favorite thing here so far.
I found out yesterday that all the museums on the National Mall are free! How did I not know this? Needless to say today was spent running through a whirlwind tour of a select few of them to get spend time with the greats before I head out for points south tomorrow. It proved to be a worthy experience as the masters are inspiring and treat to spend time with these old hands.
Tomorrow I will get back to camping, it’s been awhile with all these hostels and dense urban areas to contend with. But it opens up from here through Virginia and on to The Carolina’s.
