The day started out great! I woke up refreshed made some coffee pack up my stuff and headed out.
Goodbye Yachats!
Heading out if town I was created with this amazing view.
And who could not enjoy themselves when this is the road you get to travel.
Here is a tiny picture of the Heceta Head Lighthouse which was just hanging out there doing it’s thing.
The road from Heceta Head to Florence was unremarkable and Florence itself was a little sad but I did stop for lunch as I was running out of gas.
I felt like watching “The Ghostbusters” but this place unfortunately didn’t do digital downloads. But I like the sign.
I believe this is Cleawax Lake.
Heading towards Gardiner I thought this was the Umpqua River but it’s just it’s little brother the Smith River forking off.
Stopped in Reedsport for a coffee break. It was a neat town, clearly a happening spot years ago.
And here is a fun Lil doggie on the wall inside 🙂
Here is a neat little market in Lakeside. I cannot vouch for the selection as I didn’t go in but I really liked the hand painted signage.
Was planning on camping outside of Hauser but decided to go on partly because I felt great like I could ride another 65 miles and partly because I’m morally opposed to staying in commercial RV parks.
Right before I took the long bridge over to North Bend I snapped this picture of the back side of the Oregon Dunes. Looks like it would be fun to zip around in one of those cool dunebuggies.
Was thinking I would stop in North Bend but found the town very unpleasant. So was hoping to find something in Charleston as I was quickly running out of energy and getting tired.
I was so happy to see this when I came around then bend.
And even more happy to see this. Which will be my shelter for the night.
Here is the view if I walk to the edge of the street.
Well that’s it for today. Time for rest and looking forward to hitting the road tomorrow and seeing new things.
