Day 111 Belfast-Pictou
Today is a short day most of it spent crossing the Northumberland Straight. To maximize my time in Nova Scotia I decided to stay in Pictou which is about 15km from the ferry.
I’m glad I decided to stay in Pictou it’s a cute little village and after a 1 1/2 hr ferry ride I’m ready to explore my 9th province.
The BnB I booked is owned and operated by a great couple who are like minded and spend the winters in Fiji. It was great talking with them about alternative living and travelling in general. They have only owned the place for a few weeks and bought the property for a song. It was a very inspirational conversation and another reason I’m glad I stopped in Pictou. There is something special and encouraging about meeting and talking with people who are living life on there own terms and it validates the direction I’ve chosen to travel down my path.
The energy here in Nova Scotia is very different from PEI or New Brunswick and of the Maritimes I fee most comfortable here so far. We’ll see if that feeling continues as I head east towards the famed Cabot trail.
The Walker Inn in downtown Pictou. A nice place with some cool hosts

HI Ken, I saw your comment on Eva McCartys site about her tree. I am Caroll Duncan, your Dads sister from Idaho. I knew you were going to take this trip. I am enjoying reading about your adventures and your beautiful photos. Are you still traveling?
Hi Carol, So nice to hear from you 🙂 Yes I’m still traveling, will make it to Newfoundland on Wednesday then heading south to Florida and hopefully Cuba. It has been quite an amazing journey so far.
How is everything with you?
