I left Eureka taking the back was out of town via the waterfront/industrial side of town to the 101.
After about 6 miles I got off the 101 and on country roads that took me through Loleta.
Loleta likes it’s outdoor seating.
Then through to Fernbridge.
And to Ferndale where I ultimately stopped for breakfast at this good little cafe that had a bunch of old timers in the back playing poker at 10 in the morning 🙂
The road through Ferndale meandered through downtown and the countryside to Rio Dell. This little stretch reminded me a lot of Southwest Germany.
Rio Dell has water storage. What do you know about that Washington? Here I got back on the 101.
At pepperwood I got on The Avenue of Giants that goes through the Redwoods and a number of towns for about 30 miles. I rode through most of it.
Then forest met up with the Eel River.
At Myer Flat the bracket holding my rear rack up snapped and slammed my packs on the ground. Luckily I had some extra bungee cords just in case.
I was able to secure it enough to get me the last 9 miles to Phillipsville which is my sleep spot for the night. Going to take a little stress of the bungees with some para-cord and try a stop and get a new bracket fabricated or might just leave it and see how it goes.Well that’s about it for today I am Tuckered out so that’s it until tomorrow.
