Day 167 Philadelphia, PA-Elkton, MD
After saying goodbyes to the Brescia’s I set out towards Baltimore. Frank mentioned to me there was a Wyeth museum along the way. It was actually about a 15 miles detour to Chadds Ford, PA. It was worth it!
The countryside around Chadds Ford was stunning, The area is supposedly the birthplace of the american landscape painting movement and I can believe it. It is also the inspiration for H.C. Wyeth and all the amazing Wyeth’s to follow.
The Brandywine gallery has an amazing collection of Howard Pyle, H.C. Wyeth, and a large Andrew Wyeth collection that was stunning. It was great to see some of my hero’s through the brush strokes.
I also met and had a great conversation with Dylan (The current artist in residence) about art and cycle touring.
The last stretch to Elkford, MD (my ninth state on this trip) was uneventful and now I’m looking forward to exploring Baltimore tomorrow and over the weekend.
Stay tuned more to come!
