Day 168 Elkton, MD-Baltimore, MD
It’s time I start slowing down. Even though I am not covering as much distance per day as I was throughout Canada there is more city riding which eats up the clock.
One thing I would like to avoid is the ride/eat/sleep/ride trap that I currently find myself. The goal to keep this journey sustainable for the long term is to ride/stop/experience/work/work some more/create/enjoy as well as eat/sleep. This is my biggest hurdle at the moment and hopefully the appearance of Genesha at the Philadelphia Art Museum will help me to remove the time obstacle from my life.
I think today was a good start in achieving that goal. It was an uneventful ride to Baltimore, with the majority of miles on the highway, and I arrived at my hostel at 12:30pm. Way to early to check in but early enough that I was able to check out The George Peabody Library. I was able to work a bit in that amazing space which was fantastic.
Another gem at the Peabody was the Edgar Allan Poe exhibit. Down the road was the grave and monument of this storied man. Now I am not one to idolize the dead and cemeteries to me are more places of peace and quiet. But it seemed fitting to visit this mans grave and think about his impact on my life.
After a short moment of reverie awakened by a rain storm I headed back to the hostel to finally get checked in and where I write this post now. As for the rest of my stay in Baltimore I plan on using my time mainly to work and reflect on my current goals with time to explore of course 🙂
The George Washington Monument. Not sure why it’s so high, but I most likely will climb it tomorrow
Like your plan. And that library!! Amazing.
Thanks Shammy 🙂
