Today started a bit late as I eased into the day for no apparent reason. Said goodbye to the Madrona and set off.

Took a nice quiet back road to Redway and to Garberville where I stopped at the Eel River cafe for an early breakfast.

Took the 101 to Benbow which was uneventful as was Benbow. Got on a nice unused SR 271 that took me all the way to Piercy.

Here is the crossroads in Piercy. Literally town center. I think the only reason this place is a town is because it has a post office (which consists if a plywood 3-wall shelter and some apartment style mailboxes outside).

Poor little Eel river struggling with the drought :(

Here is my little bridge that is about to connect with the 101 looming over it.

Day 17:
Then it was up through the mountains to Leggett where I found Bigfoot hangout out hiding in plain sight in front of a souvenir shop.

Day 17:

At Leggett I switched over to CA-1 which was a pretty quiet road but immediately gave me a hefty climb that ultimately took me up 1749ft which was actually a fun climb despite being a bit brutal at times. Luckily as with all climbs this one had a nice downhill one that went for about 5 miles. My legs were happy about that :)

After a couple of miles I came to my second big climb this one only about 700ft but was much harder after the first mountain and about 55 miles ridden a already but I finally made it out of the mountains here.

Day 17:
I was so happy to see the Pacific again. Don't get me wrong the Redwoods were majestic giants and I rode by in awe. But it seemed like I was in the mountains for days. Well I guess I was :)

Day 17:

I rode along the coast to Westport where I stopped here (the only place in town) for a sandwich. It's also the post office, grocery store, tackle shop, gas station and internet in town.

Then walked down here to cap off my day. Not to bad if I say so :)
Now to rest for another coastal ride tomorrow. Can't wait!
