Day 175 Washington, DC-Fredericksburg, VA
It was great to explore and spend time in DC but I was happy to get back on the bike after so log of a break.
And a great day for riding it was, sunny and cool for my long ride to Fredericksburg. Outside of riding the day was pretty uneventful. I had to take a long detour around Quantico which at first I was not so happy about but it turned out to be a great ride with a lot of fast rural riding.
Other than the pedals turning it was a pretty uneventful day but I did get some nice shots of the changing scenery.
I remember running in these formations singing silly cadences. Although these guys have much nicer surroundings
The Air Force Memorial in Arlington, just up the road from the Pentagon
The Lorton Reformatory (1910-2001) was a horrible place with a long history of terror. It seems more disturbing now that right across the street are luxury track homes and most likely Lorton will turn into some shopping mall or something. A place where you can eat you Subway sandwich where they beat suffragists to death.
On a brighter note it was very pleasant to ride in the rural areas again, and they took me all the way to Fredericksburg. Unfortunately I got in too late and too tired to explore at all preffering to rest for another long ride tomorrow. Luckily my route out in the morning will take me through the downtown areas.
