Day 179 Richmond, VA-Williamsburg, VA
The weather was perfect for riding the whole day. And on top of that it was on the wonderful Capitol trail the whole way as well.
The only drawback to riding on trails is that it is hard to maintain a fast pace. but that was OK. It wasn’t long before I met two other cycle tourers, Allie and Lesley from Ontario, Canada as well. It was fun talking with them and seeing as they are heading to the Florida Keys it’s likely that I’ll run into them again.
I also ran into two other ladies but they where from the Blue Ridge area of Virginia and come to Williamsburg often. It was fun talking with them about all sorts of topics and made the miles go by fast. At my lunch stop we parted ways.
So was the rest of the ride into Williamsburg, conversations and well wishes. The ended and it was a side road to my hotel. After I passed William and Mary college I was smack dab in the middle of colonial times. Williamsburg does it right. The historic downtown is set up as it would have been and all the employees and people are in period garb. It was quite the site, part of me wishes I had more time to explore. Maybe I’ll be back 😉
