Days 23-33 Golden BC
UPDATE 6/8/16: After a 10 illness and recovery i’m excited to update that I will be hitting the road again tomorrow. Although still not a 100% I am anxious to get back on the bike. Check-in for more regular updates as I move along and thanks for all the well wishes 🙂
See you out there!
Hi guys sorry for the lack of posts or updates on my progress. It wasn’t really an oversight as I haven’t made any progress since I landed in Golden from Revelstoke on the 28th.
So what have I been doing, you ask?
Nothing fun I assure you. It might have been a combination of things the long days ride over some heavy climbs coupled with poor food choices has once again giving this guy a stomach virus and this time it means business.
I’ll spare you the details but suffice it to say that I feel horrible up until today I couldn’t even focus my eyeballs correctly. I did go to the clinic yesterday and met with a lovely Dr. who has set my on the path to recovery! I was putting it off and using dr. google to avoid the extreme cost of healthcare for foreigners (Seeing a Dr. at the hosipital=$900, just for the visit) but was lucky some referred me to the clinic instead at $75 later I am on the mend.
O few days ago I moved out of the hotel into the Dreamcatcher Hostel which has been nothing but absolutely wonderful. The proprietors Gerald and Abi are very nice and welcomed me and have provided much needed positive distraction as I recover.
If your ever in Golden, BC do stay there, you won’t regret it. Plus as I’m like a local now, there is so much to do around here, bear sancuaries, gondola ride, rapids, hiking, biking and skiing.
I’m not sure how long I’ll be down for and I will continue my normal posting when I back out on the road or have something exciting to share.
Hope everyone is doing better that me.
Until then…
Get well Ken! Thanks for taking care of us with our 1010 Apartments today.

Hey Ken! Glad to hear you are on the mend. Take it easy and take your time-you have a long way ahead of you. My wife Carrie did a similar solo bike trip from Anacortez to Boston-took her three months. We’re following your adventures and wish you much joy and inspiration on this special journey.
