Today started great Sunday morning traffic on the 101 was quiet which is always good when your riding s bike on the highway. And having this for a view is not bad either 🙂
Right next to the highway on the water edge is the railway the Amtrak takes from Vancouver BC to LA if you blot out the oil rigs this is one pretty stretch to be riding the rails.
And its always good to be riding on the royal road. I felt so regal.
I couldn’t convince this guy I wasn’t dead. Stupid vulture clearly this one is on the bottom of the bell curve.
Got into Santa Barbara and here is the Barnsdale-Rio Grande gas station 1929.
Here is where my route got wonky. The 101 was having some major construction and I had to stop and contemplate whether to risk a dangerous section. Decided against it and backed up a bit and took the exit. Luckily I did because there was a bike detour. That slowed me down a lot but ultimately turned into the 1 where I needed to go anyway.
The other side of the tracks
And then confused me and took me through a construction site.
Thanks Louis!!!
I wonder how many of these tried to kill me on the ride down from Washington.
I didn’t snap any pics of the last stretch to Oxnard as I was trying to push through the last few miles. I finally made it to Oxnard and my brothers and ready for a nice break.
