Day 34 Golden-Field
So today was an exciting day. My first day back on the bike after my 10 days of not any fun at all. After a nice breakfast and saying goodbye to the wonderful people at the Dreamcatcher Hostel I set out on the first big climb out of town.
There is a steep climb just to get to Highway 1 which almost did me in from the jump. After many stops to catch my breathe I finally made it to the top where I was welcomed by a more gradual climb over the next 40km’s or so. My fitness was definitely not there I was operating all day at about 65% with breathing problems and not been fully recovered putting the damper on the day. I think it will be sometime before I am a 100% again, it’ll be important that I steady stream calories as I go to both rebuild and to full the riding, we’ll see how it goes.
Tomorrow is a big day from Field to Banff about 85km but I’ll have some downhill along the way which should make the extra distance more manageable.
Until there here are some pics from today’s ride. (Thanks everybody for being patient with me as I was out of commission and for all your well wishes, as a solo traveler your kind words were welcome reminders of all the great people in my life).
Thanks again 🙂
This last one is taken just up the street from my hostel, Field, BC is clearly looking after by the mountain gods. That’s a big motha right out side your door.
So glad you’re feeling better. What a view from the hostel!
Ya field was a cool little town. And the hostel was fun. Shared a room with two you Italian co-eds which wasn’t too bad 😉
Beauty! Gotta watch those bugs. They’ll take you out for sure. Banff is a cool spot. I went when I was much younger and the border agent was baffled as to why we’d choose there 🙂 safe travels my friend!! Love shammy
Banff is cool, a little too shopping centric for my taste 😉
