Got an early start today. I was really happy to leave that motel and hit the road.
And was greeted by the LA River here looking all serene and reflecty
Got from the poor run down i’m going to get stabbed side of long beach (at least that was the look in everybodys eyes on the street wondering what I was doing there) to the nice waterfront. Where I bumped into a Queen.
The Queen Mary from an angle I have never seen it.
Stopped early for breakfast here by the marina at a place call the Potholder. It was fantastic. The food was great the staff great. If your there I recommend a stop at the Potholder.
Got back on a bike path at Sunset Beach that took me to Huntington Beach which was nice and leisurely as there was a gaggle of people out on a Saturday.
Here is a beach (forgot which one, there are so many)
And these neat trees that just say it’s good to be different 🙂
My maps said it was too dangerous to ride the 1 from Newport Beach to Dana Point but I found it quite pleasant. Sure there was no shoulder because of beach parking but I just road in the lane and people went around me. No obnoxious honking or speeding by. The ones that were rude (and pretty consistently this whole trip) were the unsponsored team riders and racers. They don’t like us touring folk prolly cause we go slower and have more fun :). *not all were rude some were quite nice, and one guy not only gave me directions but ride with me in S.F.
And here are all the stacked homes looking out at the ocean in Laguna
I didn’t take a lot of pictures on this stretch as it went find. And frankly have been out of practice. The next leg should be more photo friendly.
I made it to Ladera Ranch right on time I said 2pm and got here at 2pm. Right as the Nisti’s were leaving 🙂
I’ll be back on the road Monday morning. And the plan is to stop in Coronado finishing the last 18 miles to the border the next day. Then relax and get the bike ready for the airplane and the 12 miles home from Seatac.
