Today was a day of firsts! But well get to those later. The day started great I was ready to get on the bike again and get rolling. After a goodbye Astoria photo op of course :)

And a good morning to Oregon as well.

Day 7:
Day 7:

My right quad was really pissed at me still but I kept plugging away in the hopes it would get with the program.

It hasn’t so I’ll have to keep tabs on it going forward.

The roads were really nice and it’s odd but everything is so much different than Washington. The air, the colors, the smells are all different I noticed this right away when I got to Westport the other day but failed to mention it. It might just be that I was so happy to make it too my second state 🙂

I was really excited to see the Pacific when I got to Seaside I didn't even care that it was cold, windy and rainy.

Leaving Seaside is when it got bad. The weather sucked the rain was coming from all directions thanks to the wind and it never let up which made for slow going. Around Cannon Beach my mood became despondent. But I persevered and was going to stop in Arch Cape. I didn’t like the looks of it and decided to tackle the 7 miles to Manzanita. Here is Silver Point Rock. I missed hay stack and couldn’t see it from this outlook. Sad 🙁

Day 7:
Here is where all the firsts come in. It was my first tunnel (the cars were obnoxious here). It was also my first (and second) flat tire! As well as the first time I wanted to quit and throw my damn bike of the mountain. And worst of all it was the first time I really was scared about getting hit by a car or retiree tour bus because climbing up that last monster peak through Oswald West State Park before descending into Manzanita looked like this But somehow I didn't die and I didn't throw my bike off the mountain but made it all the way to Manzanita where I write this hope for a better day tomorrow.
