Day 83 Toronto-Oshawa
It was nice to get back on the road after a nice long break in Toronto. I’m going to miss Toronto, it was one of those places where you instantly feel comfortable. I really enjoyed riding around all the different neighborhoods and exploring but I have other plans at the moment and that is making it to St. Johns and the start of the second leg of this journey (which i’ll tell you all about soon :).
The ride was humid then hot but quite nice as it was along the waterfront and on trails most of the way to Oshawa. The day went by so fast and before I knew it it was 3pm and 90km away from my stay in Toronto.
The Pickering Nuclear Power Plant in the distance reminded me of the classic Katsuhiro Otomo film “Akira” and I spent the next hour reminiscing on the movie, perfect use of time 🙂
Now it’s time to rest and work on some projects I got cooking. Luckily Oshawa is not a destination location so I can focus on production 🙂
Hilarious to see you’ve picked up on the Schwa being one of the more notable local armpits. You probably got tipped off passing the massive GM factories and associated wasteland beside the waterfront trail. Seems like you’re headed east along the shores of the lake. keep to highway 2 and make sure you take the right after Brighton and take the spin though Prince Edward County, the reward is a cute little ferry ride. Some good rail trails in Prince Edward county that will keep you off the highway.
Haha the nice thing about towns like this is that there is no desire to explore so I can get things done and rest. Nice tip on Prince Edward, I’ll look into it.
Thanks!
Local bias aside, Not entirely a cultural wasteland, Worth looking the McLaughlin gallery. 20th century Canadian art and beyond . Many thanks to an early 20th century Auto Baron and his endowment
