Days 89-90 Part 2: Ottawa Day Trip
Ottawa (the capital of Canada) is about an hour north of Morrisburg and home to all the government and parliament buildings.
It was great to see Ottawa while they were taking care of business, and WOW what a city, and to think we all decided it was too far out of the way to make the detour on the bike…
The locks right down the street from the Parliament building.
The ByWard Market. There has been a market here since 1827.
The Hog’s Back Falls, officially known as the Prince of Wales Falls, but rarely referred to by this name, are a series of artificial waterfalls on the Rideau River in Ottawa, Canada.
John told us that they level out this canal in the wintertime and you could skate it for 11km! It’s crazy to think that people skate on the canal for their work comute.
After some time our new friends John and Chantal came to pick us up but not before insisting on treating us for dinner at a local eatery in the Market. It was a fun and entertaining experience
with some great stories. They are true global citizens and it was comforting to be in the presense of like minded people that value experiences, travel and living in the present.
Beautiful!
And to think I was going to bypass Ottawa!
