Days 15-16 Penticton-Kelowna-Lavington
The ride from Penticton to Kelowna was fairly uneventful. It was a little drizzly out and we (the Ruru’s and I) set out on a trail towards Peachland and soon were on the Highway. It was rough miles the first half as I didn’t eat breakfast before setting out for the day (dumb move) and I soon ran out of gas. Luckily Peachland has a wonderful waterfront main street and a fantastic bakery at the end before getting back on the highway. Some food and a nice long break was all I need to get me through to Kelowna.
So the Bliss Bakery Right on the water in Peachland is pretty amazing. If your ever in these parts do check it out and as a bonus this is what you see right across the street.
We got in late to Kelowna and due to Victoria Day every campsite and hotel seemed to be booked solid. We were tired and finally I found a crappy room for way to much money heading out of town and the Ruru’s found a crappy room fro way to much money in town as they were staying an extra day. So I bid my friends from down under a fine farewell, it has been fun getting to know them and generally being around awesome people for a few days. Maybe we will meet again on the road…
I got an early start from Kelowna and was happy to be out of town about half way to Vernon there are two lakes Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake and both very pretty and only separated by this little stretch of land.
There were some amazing views coming into Vernon as well.
And as it happens on the road I ran into the two girls from the interior are touring to Newfoundland as well. It was fun to catch up with Jen and Beth? and this time we got a picture to document the occasion 🙂
We parted was and I trucked into Vernon to hang out awhile before heading to Lavington.
I stopped and got a coffee and chatted with some cool folks.
I connected with my host and they were in Vernon so Leonard stopped by and picked my up for the short trip to his farm where he graciously is putting me up for the night. We had a good conversation about farming, cows and of course cycling over pizza. I also got some good tips about places to check out as I move on.
Now I’m tired and am going to get some rest before what looks to be a wet ride tomorrow.
