Days 177-178 Richmond, VA
Richmond was a great town to explore and relax. It’s small enough to make it easy to get around and also small enough to not get distracted by the bustle of the city.
People say that the South begins in Richmond and I might have to agree with them. The hospitality has been infectious!
They had a big parade on Halloween night with giant puppets, bands and a plethora of freaks and geeks out and about. In other words it was freakin’ awesome! The only downside was when they asked for volunteers to carry a giant puppet I initially waffled and when I finally decided to do it they already had enough people 🙁 It’s a lesson for me to just act and participate and not overthink things. The experiences are what this journey is about. I will make a point to accept the opportunities as they come.
Richmond is one of the only cities that can claim a class IV rapids thanks to the James River. Here it is on a calm day.
The John Marshall hotel opened the day after the stock market crash of 1929. Now high end condos, go figure.
