Days 35-36 Field-Banff-Calgary
Waking up in Field to sunshine was a promising start to the day, especially as I am not yet 100%
But as I Heading into Alberta the weather turned so and shortly after taking the sign pic it started pouring rain. And continued pouring rain with a vicious headwind all the way to Banff (about 60km’s worth). It was discouraging and as I wasn’t feeling very good anyway it made for a bad riding day. The overpriced hotel I booked in Banff was a welcome site for sure.
This morning was completely different the weather was great and I headed out for a long riding day in decent spirits.
So long Banff
There is a nice trail from Banff to Canmore which I took and then stopped in Canmore for a light breakfast.
Well I finally made it out of the mountains and the ride on to Calgary was nice and fast thanks to a wicked tailwind. I was averaging about 40kmh after opping out of the mountains so my long riding day (130km) went by in a flash.
So now I’m at my hostel downtown and plan on staying a few day 1. to fully recover and 2. to explore Calgary a bit before I get back on the bike and continue heading east.
