Days 45-46 Saskatoon
I planned all along to stop for a few days in Saskatoon 1. to check out the site of the Children’s Hospital I’ve been working on for the last year and 2. to rest after some big mileage days back to back.
My first impression of Saskatoon is that this town is pretty damn cool. It has a nice energy, like Seattle without the tech bro’s.
I did break my rule of rest and road around the city yesterday but I was able to see some of the city and have enjoyed my time here. Today I moved from my out of the way super cheap hotel by the airport to a B&B equally cheap on the other side of town closer to my exit route. After a nice lunch in an old diner I stopped for coffee and got to chatting with this awesome guy Jackson who owns a coffee shop in town and is a genuinely rad dude. After a long conversation we planned to meet up later for dinner so I might have a update to this post later.
But here is some of what I saw:
The Riverwalk to pretty awesome they have a nice bike and walk path on both sides of the river.
I hope nobody was on this road when the earth fell out from underneath it, Never a good sign when the road disappears!
And here is the site of the future Children’s Hospital, they are diligently building away, my guess is that my environmental graphics will be installed sometime 2017/2018 and it’s slated to open 2019. Looking forward to seeing all those big illustrations we worked so hard on get installed and enjoyed by the kids who unfortunately have to go there.
Here’s a few from the North side of the river. The hospital is attached to the existing University of Saskatchewan Hospital.
Tomorrow starts my ride East again. Still not sure which route i’m taking, that’s what I need to figure out now.
Until next time, take care everybody!
So cool!
Thanks Evie 🙂
