Days 52-53 Russell-Minnedosa-Portage la Prairie
It was a welcome sight to make it to Russell. It was a long hard ride. After a nice rest I was back on the road for another long haul to Portage la Prairie. Luckily the wind was working with me and I made great time to Portage.
Tomorrow I get to Winnipeg (The second and last Canadian City that I visited before). I will be staying a few days to check in with the doctor and tune up the bike, I also need new sneakers (my Nike’s lasted 1941 miles of rain, sun and hard pedaling).
The road to Russell.
I love running into these digital weigh scales on the road. I came across my first one on the Oregon coast a few years ago and it’s neat to see how much weight your pushing. So this one on the way to Russell, you can’t read it but it says 150kg/330lbs. That’s a lot to push around and the Surly has been an absolute trooper.
The lake in Minnedosa is really nice, I was tempted to jump in but decided to go eat instead. It was interesting that somebody had a personal seaplane which I thought was pretty rad.
After a good sleep and a small breakfast it was back on the road for another long day to Portage.
Meet Happy Rock! This jolly fellow was in the town I stopped for lunch, Gladstone Manitoba. I’m a sucker so dumb jokes like this, Happy Rock made my afternoon 🙂
