Days 64-65 Thunder Bay-Nipigon-Terrace Bay
Apparently bikes are not aloud on the highway out of Thunder Bay. Luckily for me the route fro bikes started right by where I was staying and turned into a nice quiet 30km ride to where it meets back up with the highway.
Other that the beautiful weather that is where my luck ended as I had a hefty headwind all the way to Nipigon, ON. It was an uneventful ride.
Lakeshore Drive. It’s always nice to ride off the highway, it’s quieter and has less traffic.
Once back on the highway I realized I was in the Terry Fox Courage Highway, which is pretty cool. If you don’t know about him, look him up.
I got a late start from Nipigon only to realize that the winds shifted. Yup! I now had a headwind heading East, doesn’t seem like I’m going to catch a break with the wind. Today’s ride to Terrace Bay was a big one. The mileage was fine but there was some crazy climbs.
But I also had some stunning views along Lake Superior.
I also came across Elvis. It reminded me of the stencils my old roommate Sam used to put up 🙂
And here is the Terrace bay Lighthouse, a replica of the one on the Slate Islands, that you can climb up and view the bay.
So that’s it for me, tomorrow is more easterly travel. Hope everybody is doing well!
