Days 73-74 Bruce Mines-Serpent River-Espanola
it was a beautiful morning leaving Bruce Mines and one of the few days that there was a bit of tailwind. The ride to Serpent River was fast and fun with a lot of nice sights along the way. Most notably the barns.
I got into the camp spot super early which was great, but I could have gone for a while longer. The site was already prepaid so going further was not in the finances.
Not a barn, but I was drawn to this during my lunch stop and decided to snap a pic.
Stopping in Blind River for provisions I noticed this little guy waiting for it’s human and couldn’t help but smile.
After getting settled in at the campsite this other tourer shows up. He was from Philadelphia and I couldn’t quite get him to tell me where he started or where he was going. You meet all kinds of people on the road from locals and travelers alike, but I have never come across a fellow cycle tourer that was so pessimistic and negative. Nonetheless I was very happy that he went on his way.
Leaving Serpent River the headwind was back! Yay me 🙂 It was a nice ride though with a long steady climb pretty much all the way to Espanola. It was nice to get on the side highway heading towards Manitoulin Island. I am looking forward to checking it out, my friend Martin whom I met earlier said it should be a great ride.
I thought today would be another barn day! but I was wrong, aside from this one the scenery was enjoyable but not of note.
Tomorrow started the ride through the island so I will share the fruits of the pedals.
