Holguín – Playa La Herradura
I’m writing this sitting in my room ($25 a night, with breakfast) right across the street from the ocean after finishing a delicious lobster dinner ($5) while listening to the bar next store blaring Adele in between the current reggaetón hits. In other words I have entered the Twilight Zone.
That is if the Twilight Zone was a Caribbean paradise not yet ruined by the resort industry. Not a bad way to kick on my return from my being sidelined in Holguin with a fever and stomach problems.
This also marks the second time I have changed my planned route. I opted for a shorter day to Playa la Herradura and spend extra time at the beach rather than go to bayamo and on to Manzanillo. Everybody seems to confirm I made the right choice with not much happening in Bayamo and limited time to enjoy Manzanillo.
Tomorrow looks like a day of swimming, reading, and relaxing. I think tomorrow I might opt for the shrimp or maybe the crab both $5 as well. What to eat seems to be the most difficult decision and one I’m ready to tackle.
